Lactobacilli 4x10^8 cfu/g • Safe for pets and humans • Colonizes the animal's intestines • Balances the microbiome, normalizes gut function and stool composition • Improves the animal's physical condition • Clinically studied effects • EFSA (EU) approval PetGuide® probiotic is a natural inhabitant of the intestines. The Lactobacillus acidophilus D2/CSL probiotic contained in PetGuide® is a natural resident of a healthy gut in both dogs and cats. Lactobacilli are lactic acid bacteria found in nature, for example, in plants. They transit to the intestines, and those strains that can withstand the conditions of the digestive tract establish themselves in the gut. Lactobacilli colonize the intestines of cats and dogs immediately after birth, preventing the proliferation of unwanted bacteria such as enterobacteriaceae, Clostridium perfringens, and Echerichia coli. If the normal proportion of Lactobacilli decreases, the opportunities for unwanted bacteria to thrive increase. Studies indicate that Lactobacillus acidophilus D2 can colonize the intestines of both cats and dogs, restoring gut function and the animal's well-being. The intestinal microbiome plays crucial roles The important roles of the intestinal microbiome include: 1. preventing the invasion of pathogenic bacteria, 2. influencing nutrient utilization and absorption, and 3. supporting the immune system's function through the gut. The composition and function of the microbiome can be disrupted for various reasons such as the animal's aging, dietary changes, stress, unwanted bacteria, and medications. Severe imbalance of the intestinal microbiome, or dysbiosis, can negatively impact the animal's health, leading to acute and chronic intestinal inflammation. Humans have long used lactic acid bacteria Probiotic lactic acid bacteria have long been used by humans, most commonly lactobacilli, to maintain gut health. As in humans, the microbiome in animals can also be guided towards a balanced state, increasing the proportion of beneficial bacteria. Different bacterial strains have been found to work in various ways, making strain selection important. Microbes from the host and pet can transfer between each other, so probiotic strains must be safe for both. Dosage 1/2 tsp for dogs under 22 lbs (10 kg) 1 tsp for dogs 22 - 55 lbs (10 - 25 kg) 2 tsp for dogs over 55 lbs (25 kg) Storage Unopened: 18 months. Opened: 2 months at room temperature. Keep dry.
